Lady & the Watches Animated Short Film
Kelly McCready is a writer/director/actor and photographer/cinematographer from Australia who now resides in Brooklyn, NY. Kelly came to the United States to study theatre and political science, and then found herself staying longer than she thought she would. Because of the work her parents did, Kelly lived in seven different countries by the time she was 18. That list includes England, Cuba, Germany, Spain, Guam and Australia. She studied at Case Western Reserve University and the Moscow Art Theatre School.

The stories she’s most interested in usually have a social slant: gender issues, sexuality, climate change, the conflation between religion and morality, and the rise of fascism.

Perfect Love                
Production Update:
Perfect Love was shot June 22-24, 2024. All hired peoples are women/nonbinary.
Perfect Love is now in post-production.

Logline:
At the brink of giving up on all human connection, a painfully inhibited young woman meets a self-loving stranger at New York's Coney Island, inspiring her to discover herself.

Mission Statement:
Perfect Love demonstrates the power of the female gaze in the face of an internalized male gaze, seen through the eyes of our protagonist—Evelyn. With a nuanced and non-performative view of sexuality and queer women in Perfect Love, our intimate short aims to be a gamechanger for the industry.

In a world progressively getting harder to live in, Burning House has a particular interest in modern stories that explore gender, sexuality, class, and issues of the environment. With an emphasis on great acting and barebones aesthetic, our productions are intimate, roguish and often uncomfortable.”

Burning House is co-founded by David De Almo and Kelly McCready.

 Lady & the Watches  

Lady & the Watches is an upcoming animated short film. Lady & the Watches has completed all animation, and is now in the final sound mixing stage. It is 5min long.

Logline: A woman buys a watch every time she ends a relationship. Is it possible to be lonely with so many watches?
